TMA 285 Film: "Oblivious", Suspense Scene

For the Chase/Suspense scene assignment, I directed this, based on a similar experience I've had.

  1. This was one I really liked seeing come together. There were a few times when I was worried it wouldn't make sense. This was just because I wasn't sure if people would understand how the oven was left on, but I honestly didn't care that much while watching it. The scene was nice and simple and pretty fun to shoot. I thought Spencer had some really cool shot choices, like the shot of the main character walking to his room, or the low angle of the roommate as he smelled the gas. All of these shots seemed very well thought out and they played really well. The only sad part for me was that we were on sort of a tight schedule, so there wasn't a ton of time to set up lights and shoot in the way I would have liked. This is totally my fault. If I would have done it faster, we could have gotten those lights up. I particularly wish we had lights on the shot when the main character is doing homework. He seems a lot darker in this shot than the others. Overall I thought it was really fun to shoot. Spencer did a really great job at making things deliberate.
